Applicable Standards for Instructional Technology
W.9-10.6 (Use technology i.e. internet to produce, publish and updated writing)
SL.9-10.2 (integrate multiple sources of information in diverse media formats)
SL.9-10.5 (make strategic use of digital media)
The technology that will be used throughout my lesson is purely for the students benefit. Nothing within the unit (rather than the multimedia inquiry) really requires technology to be effective. It is purely for the convenience and teachable aspects of using technology in every day life. It is my hope that after experiencing this unit, students will not only be empowered by online journaling, using presentation software and using SMARTboards but they will be encouraged to go out and find new and better technologies over time and utilize them for their own benefit. Some examples include:
· In order to foster a technologically welcoming environment in my classroom, I would allow students the option to create a free blog online and utilize this as their means of daily journaling.
· Students will be welcomed to use PowerPoint, Prezi, or any other credible presentation formats to present material when asked (i.e. Jigsaw, other projects)
· SMARTboard will be utilized during the Multimedia Inquiry lesson as a tool to get students accustomed to using different types of technology. This could be as simple as having students write examples of unknown vocabulary in “The Pit and the Pendulum” using the SMARTpen on a blank document.
